Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Regional Crisis Manager to support one of our premier clients — a leading global technology company — in an embedded role. The Embedded Regional Crisis Manager (RCM) will be responsible for delivering, enhancing, and scaling crisis management capabilities across the client’s US operations and supporting the broader RCM team globally.

You will act as a trusted advisor and crisis response lead within the client’s organization, helping to protect people, assets, and operations during critical events. The role requires deep subject-matter expertise in natural disaster preparedness, crisis leadership, and a global perspective on risk management.

You’ll work closely with cross-functional stakeholders from security, business continuity, communications, and executive leadership, ensuring a high level of preparedness and resilience tailored to the fast-paced, innovative environment of a global tech enterprise.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in the client’s Austin office, though there is flexibility for some remote work based on workload and priorities. The RCM team also operates a weekend “on-call” rotation, meaning occasional weekend work with time off in lieu. The position also involves domestic and international travel up to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

Prepare

  • Develop and maintain region-specific crisis management plans, playbooks, and escalation protocols aligned with global standards and client-specific needs.

  • Conduct threat and vulnerability assessments to anticipate and plan for natural disasters, geopolitical unrest, cyber risks, and emerging threats.

  • Lead the design and delivery of the Crisis Management Training Program, including in-person and virtual sessions tailored for Crisis Response Teams (CRTs) and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Facilitate regular tabletop exercises, simulations, and after-action reviews to test response effectiveness and build organizational resilience.

  • Build executive-ready presentations and training materials to reinforce awareness and preparedness across the business.

  • Continuously improve readiness by integrating lessons learned and industry best practices into planning processes.

Coordinate

  • Act as a key liaison between client departments such as security, business continuity, legal, communications, and HR to align crisis response efforts.

  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including emergency services, public agencies, and security industry partners, to ensure integrated and informed planning and response.

  • Work closely with the client’s global crisis management and security teams to ensure regional alignment and cross-functional coordination during incidents.

  • Represent the client’s crisis management function in internal meetings, strategic planning sessions, and external engagements.

  • Support global consistency by contributing to the development of enterprise-wide policies, protocols, and reporting standards.

Respond

  • Serve as the crisis management lead for incidents impacting the client’s US operations and provide global support as needed during high-impact events.

  • Monitor real-time risks including natural disasters, civil unrest, cyber incidents, and other threats that may disrupt operations.

  • Provide strategic assessments and real-time decision support to executive stakeholders under pressure.

  • Coordinate crisis activation efforts, ensuring timely and accurate information flow between internal teams and external partners.

  • Draft and distribute situational updates, incident reports, and recovery progress summaries tailored to various audiences.

  • Lead post-incident reviews to identify gaps and drive process improvements that enhance future response capabilities.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Risk Management, Security Studies, International Relations, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of experience in crisis management, emergency response, or a related field within large-scale or multinational organizations.

  • Deep expertise in natural disaster forecasting, planning, and response, with broad knowledge of security risks and geopolitical dynamics across the Americas.

  • Extensive experience designing and implementing proactive crisis response plans.

  • Proven track record in managing crises at scale — including natural disasters, civil unrest, cyber events, and major business disruptions.

  • Strong background in coordinating with external agencies, public safety officials, and cross-industry security professionals.

  • Skilled in producing high-impact training content and delivering compelling presentations to diverse audiences, including executives.

  • Advanced communication skills — both written and verbal — with the ability to synthesize complex issues into concise and actionable reports.

  • Familiarity with incident command systems, business continuity frameworks, and enterprise risk practices.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, emotional intelligence, and a strong sense of accountability.

  • Demonstrated global mindset and ability to operate across time zones and cultural contexts.

  • Proficiency with incident tracking, mass notification, and risk monitoring platforms.

  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, both domestically and internationally.
