Job Description

Our client, a leading manufacturer and installer of custom millwork and retail fixtures , is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to oversee day-to-day operations at their 30,000 sq. ft. facility in Hazelwood, MO. This role requires a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of millwork production and the ability to manage workflow, optimize production timelines, and lead a team of 20+ cabinetmakers and fabrication staff.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage daily plant operations, including cabinetmakers, fabricators, and support staff
  • Schedule and coordinate production workflow to ensure all jobs are completed on time and meet quality standards
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to understand client deliverables, production requirements, and timelines
  • Lead and supervise all aspects of millwork fabrication, including CNC routing, beam sawing machining, and assembly
  • Manage materials, prioritize jobs, and adjust staffing and equipment use as needed to maintain efficiency
  • Track and reduce errors and rework through quality control oversight and continuous process improvement
  • Coordinate trucking and outbound logistics for finished product deliveries
  • Maintain safety standards and foster a culture of accountability and teamwork
  • Monitor equipment usage, oversee routine maintenance, and support operational readiness
  • Provide leadership and coaching to a team of 15–50, depending on workload

Requirements:

  • Prior experience managing a woodshop or millwork production facility (5+ years preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of woodworking equipment and processes, including CNC machines
  • Proven track record of managing teams in a fast-paced custom production environment
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and client specs
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor team members
  • Prior hands-on experience working in a shop is a plus
  • Comfortable coordinating with multiple departments and adapting to shifting priorities
